How to go transform nervousness into excitement when public speaking

Hello hello,
I am currently teaching two acting for non actors classes, the Acting for Non Actors workshop and Acting Speeches and Monologues for Non Actors class.  I’m proud to say that the students in my class are delivering amazing performances- vibrant, engaging, and fun to watch.

I realize that every person who searches for an acting class for actors wants two things: To have fun (and I invite you to join the upcoming intro to meisner technique class to do just that -details here Upcoming Class Details ) and to be more confident when speaking in front of an audience.

So let me ask you this . . .
Do you have ideas you want to communicate to others, and they are daaaumn good ideas, but your are frustrated because whenever you have to do public speaking you just get so so nervous?

Look. You can have the best ideas,  but if you aren’t willing to stand up in front of others and communicate your ideas - they are not worth much!

I see so many talented people struggling because they avoid opportunities that can help their careers and their lives advance because they avoid public speaking.

In today’s episode of Acting for Non Actors tips, join me as I share with you why worrying about being nervous when public speaking is the WORST thing you can do, and how to transform nervousness into excitement in a matter of seconds.
Whether you are a business professional, a lawyer, a teacher, an artist, or a student, these simple tips can immediately give you the confidence to deal with nerves.

Learn to use Competition and Comparison for personal & professional growth

I wanted to help you start your week with a positive and proactive edge.

Did you know that competition and comparison can be a good thing?

Have you ever taken a class and compared yourself to others?  Have you been concerned because someone else is “smarter, more interesting, more creative, can memorize their lines better, is a better actor/ public speaker/ etc., has a better voice, more energy” than you do?

Plus, how often do we do that in our lives?

We compare ourselves to our friends, neighbors, co-workers, family members, people on TV and in magazines.

This is not the kind of competition I’m talking about.

You must stop doing that!  That is not at all helpful, and can be very harmful in fact.

However, this same sense of competition, when applied more strategically and thoughtfully can be an essential tool to getting to the top.  It can help you learn more in every class you every take, be it at Acting for Non Actors Studio or elsewhere.  It can help you become more successful and fulfilled in all areas of your life.

This tool is very simple, super effective, and easy to apply.

This video clarifies what I’m talking about…

You must watch it to the end because that is when I make the essential point.

By the way, when I mention the word “success” in the video I refer to anything that is meaningful to you.  Being more creative,  having greater communication and interpersonal skills, enjoy life, making money- that’s all success.

Video Training: How to get your “audience”(clients, co-workers, friends) engaged & listening to what you have to say

I’m on a mission to you make 2012 the year of becoming the best YOU!

Creating short but valuable training videos is my way of doing so.

This video answers the questions of:

- How do I engage my audience?
- How do I get people listening and paying attention to what I have to say?
- I know WHAT I want to communicate, but HOW do I communicate it in a way that is interesting and not borring for others to listen to?

It doesn’t matter if your “audience” is your clients or customers, co-workers, friends or family, or the person you are on a date with – the same method will work for them all.  What is it?

Allow your personality do the talking!

What do I mean by that?  I explain more in the video…
